The English Riviera is a series of picturesque, south-coast harbour towns including Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The South West Coast Path follows the coastline, taking in the towering cliffs of the northern Exmoor Coast and rock formations on the fossil-rich southern Jurassic Coast

Unspoilt Countryside.

Alternatively, walk or cycle out onto the South Hams with its unspoilt countryside and hidden villages. Guide books and maps are provided in The Old Armoury Barn.
On the doorstep is the town of Ashburton with a range of shops for all needs and also a focus upon high quality food and drink and a range of antique stores.

Formerly a nationally important lead and wool producing town, Ashburton was more recently the first place to elect a candidate of the  Official Monster Raving Loony Party to public office.

Extensive Outdoor Activities.

Within 5 minutes you can be at the River Dart Country Park with its extensive outdoor activities including high wires, Zorbing, adventure playground and climbing. Alternatively you can be on Dartmoor around Buckland Beacon or Hay Tor admiring far reaching views towards Portland Bill, over the South Hams and West towards Cornwall, or paddling on some of England’s finest kayaking stretch of the River Dart, the Loop.

From Coast & Country Cottages:
Kayaking in South Devon is a popular pastime and this comes as no surprise – with a matrix of beautiful coastline, rivers, creeks and coves to explore, it’s no wonder that so many take to the water on kayak. Spend your time navigating the stunning natural scenery, see castles, forts and historic houses from a new perspective, and catch a glimpse of some wonderful wildlife, including friendly seals! If you’re feeling hungry for a challenge, and have sufficient skills and experience, why not head for a white water stretch of the River Dart?
